Suntory Group Company Overview

Suntory’s founder Shinjiro Torii set out to create Western-style liquors that fit people’s palates in his country of Japan in 1899. After starting out with winemaking, the business expanded to distilling whisky, brewing beer, and becoming one of Japan’s oldest beverage makers.

Suntory ALL-FREE First Impressions

We picked up a four-pack in person at a Total Wine Wine & More store in California, which had an excellent selection of non-alcoholic beers.

We had tried a few Japanese beers in the past, so this zero-proof beverage, Suntory ALL-FREE, caught our eye.

Our Review of Suntory ALL-FREE

Popular alcoholic beers from Japan like Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo, and Suntory tend to be dry pale lagers that pair well with food. For us, Suntory ALL-FREE is reminiscent of those crisp, refreshing flavors.

We found it quite refreshing and appreciated that it claimed to be 0.00% alcohol free. The light, crisp flavor and easy-drinking nature would pair well in social settings and with dishes like fried food and grilled meats and vegetables.

Customer Reviews of Suntory ALL-FREE

Suntory ALL-FREE fans enjoyed the flavor of this non-alcoholic beverage while experiencing the benefits of a zero-proof beverage:

The smell is soft, crisp, deep, light, unique, and enjoyable. Doesn’t smell overly hoppy or malty. The taste is totally unique, though is is my first Japanese NA experience. Subtle hop flavor that’s mostly light, crisp, soft, and refreshing. — Strictly NA Drinker
I really like this one. Dry and light like regular Japanese beer. Zero calories is an added bonus.  — Firemanism
I’ve enjoyed this great beverage while in Japan and am delighted that it’s now available in the US. Clean, refreshing taste one can enjoy even if driving later. Great served in a chilled mug. No alcohol, no calories and no carbos, just great drinking. — DeanM

On the other hand, some folks weren't the biggest fans of ALL-FREE's flavor profile.

I enjoy Sapporo and Asahi, so I thought this might be a good, non-alcoholic alternative. Unfortunately, this didn't taste at all like beer, nor like any non-alcoholic beer I've had. They make a point of it being 0.00% alcohol and 0 calories. My guess is that they basically just mash up hops and malt and just stir it together. After half a can, the rest went down the drain. — seitz
The worst tasting NA around. Reminds me of the non alcoholic hops water, which is what it is essentially. Very bitter and no beer taste at all. It is hops flavored sparking water. — skatewing
